Back problems, including Prolapsed Discs

Justin Savage – ex GB rower & professional cameraman
My career as a young international sportsman, (rowing and rugby), was cut short by injuries to my back and knee.  I had the standard NHS treatments for years but the problems kept recurring. After having been battered over the years, one of my best friends, who had tried everything before that had failed, recommended Diksha, whose treatment seems to do something that’s a little bit ‘more.’  You walk away thinking ‘she’s really helped me out here.’ Diksha is restoring the balance to my body.

Now I’m 34, I know that word of mouth as far as treatments go seem to be everything. It always seemed to me in the past that you have to go to 20 sessions costing ₤30.00 each before anything happened, and you don’t with Diksha - she asks for has a minimum of 3.  From having 100% pain in my back it went to 20% within 5 sessions without any painkillers. Then recently I go a bout of sciatica, which was eased significantly very quickly.

Diksha is charming and highly professional and at the end of the day, what she does is phenomenal and how do you convey that?

Mary Wexman – Disabled Student Support Assistant
When I met Diksha I was in tears and said: I’m in pain; I slump and shuffle; I lack energy; I am depressed; my usual routine and each day is too much. At the mention of ‘exercises’ (stretches), ‘I can’t do them!’ I wailed, as in the past I had been given a 1hr routine by a physio, which I could absolutely not do and had only served to make my depression worse. Diksha was firm, positive and reassuring. With her help I have put my horrid, stumbling situation behind me and have moved onto a new pathway: I now can move more easily; I can stand upright; my energy levels are increasing; my daily routine includes ‘my own stretches’ which I enjoy doing and I feel I AM LIVING AGAIN. Thank you Diksha……!!!

Anne Parker – BackCare Volunteer
Having recovered from acute symptoms of lower back problems (spondylitis) and living successfully with it for over 10 years, I was alarmed when I experienced new painful symptoms that threatened to severely affect my life again.  I had previously found massage relaxing, so when I met Diksha as a fellow member of BackCare, I thought I should see if she could help me.

I was very impressed that after a couple of sessions combined with a regular programme of simple relaxing and stretching exercises that she gave me I was considerably improved. So much so that I was able to continue with a walking and orienteering holiday in the Lake District which I had had some doubts about. Her treatment, positive approach and demonstration of how I can help myself has enabled me to take control again. It has certainly been more rewarding than a simple massage!

I came to see Diksha after suffering with a bad back for 15 years.  Within 4 treatments she identified and successfully treated my problem and also clearly instructed me on stretches so that I can try to self manage in the future.  Her approach is friendly and open, even deep tissue massage seems enjoyable!  I have since returned to ask Diksha to help with a different issue so, would happily recommend her.

I cannot recommend Diksha’s work highly enough; having suffered with various back problems for about 17 years and having tried everything from NHS physiotherapy to acupuncture, I first consulted her when I had prolapsed an intervertebral disc while lifting weights at the gym.

Despite the pain I was in at the time, Diksha’s thoroughness and professionalism – as well as her care and skill in not inflicting further pain on me – impressed me immensely. The fact that by the time I returned to her for a second treatment about two weeks later, my back had improved about 80 or 90% simply reinforced the excellent impression she had made on me.

Having fully recovered from this injury, I have consulted Diksha on numerous occasions since about various other problems, and endeavour to visit her about every three or four months as a matter of course in order to keep my back in good condition for weight-training, cycling and so on. I find a treatment is always beneficial, and indeed I look forward to seeing her for a chat, almost as much as for the improvement I feel in my body in the days after a visit.

As far as the care of what I consider my problematic back is concerned, I would be very reluctant to seek anyone else’s help, and have the highest regard for Diksha and her expertise, and can therefore only recommend her care to anyone with muculo-skeletal problems.

By the time I went for treatment my back had seized up completely  - I was unable to walk more than 4 -5 steps without severe pain – I was later told I had a prolapsed (slipped) disc.

I expected the treatment to be extremely painful, but it was not.  Immediately after the treatment my whole back felt more relaxed and the nerves began sorting themselves out  - this meant a couple of sudden jars of pain and my kneecap shook for a second or two! However, once at home, I could lie down comfortably without pain, which was a huge relief. Whilst checking my back, she also noticed that my kidneys were inflamed and although I had no symptoms, suggested I talk to my GP about getting it checked - which I did, once I was mobile again, and to my surprise was told I DID have a kidney infection as well.

I carefully followed her instructions and returned for several treatments. Each time my ability to move around became easier and less painful. One month later I returned to work, still being very careful.  I have started walking up mountains again quite happily but have avoided squash and badminton as she suggested.

Julie McCuloch - Teacher & rower
I visited Diksha suffering from severe lower back pain. I had already visited my usual physiotherapist and chiropractor on three occasions but there was no improvement in my condition. On my first visit to Diksha she found the cause of my problem, and I immediately felt some relief from the pain. Subsequent visits lead to a full recovery and enabled me to get back to competitive rowing. Since then I have made regular "maintenance" visits to Diksha, she has helped improve the alignment of back, especially as I suffer from a scoliosis.

The importance of having a good practitioner is vital to healing. It is also important to understand why one's back becomes damaged so that you avoid doing it again  - I would recommend Diksha’s treatment and approach to anyone who wants to know how their body is coping with everyday stresses and strains and learn how to maintain a relatively pain free existence.

Having been a nurse and then having had 2 children, I suffered from lower back pain for years but after having just I session with Diksha I walked away feeling inches taller and after a couple more treatments my back pain went and has not come back since.  The treatment is entirely painfree and I see Diksha every 3-4 months for maintenance treatment

Mr DS - Gas Service Engineer
Before having Diksha’s treatment I could not walk more than 200 yds. After just one treatment session with Diksha, I could go shopping around town without feeling any pain!

Lesley Poole - Housewife
I first came to see Diksha when a persistent niggling back ache suddenly became quite severe in a specific low back area. She was recommended to me by a friend who had suffered similar problems. Incredibly after only two of these quite relaxing treatments the pain had diminished considerably, and after four I was virtually pain free and able to resume more strenuous activities such as gardening and going to the gym.

Perhaps more importantly, Diksha has stressed to me the importance of taking responsibility for improving the health of my own back, and she has shown me how improved posture and simple stretches can alleviate tension and help reduce pain. Through my own increased awareness of my spine's 'likes and dislikes', and regular sessions with Diksha, I now have few problems and very little pain. I have also found these treatments are very helpful with general relaxation, and afterwards feel a great sense of well-being.

I received my first treatment from Diksha in June 2007 after having back trouble for many years and undergoing a hip replacement. Her treatment is thorough and the deep relaxing massage and personal advice on exercise and lifestyle allows me to highly recommend her treatment.
